She currently offers counselling to individuals aged 13 and up who are experiencing a variety of concerns such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety, health/medical anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, work stress, lasting effects of trauma (complex, relational, medical), feelings of shame and self-doubt, challenges with perfectionism/harsh inner critics, and interpersonal struggles. From her experience as a professional musician in high-pressure, highly competitive environments, Olivia can offer a uniquely helpful perspective for any client struggling with performance-related issues, whether it be in the arts, sports or in any arena that is meaningful to them. She welcomes clients with diverse backgrounds, gender and sexual identities.

About Olivia: Olivia felt drawn to pursue her long-time interests in psychology and mental health after decades working as a professional cellist and music teacher. Though her musical pursuits continue to be both rewarding and challenging, she sees counselling as a way to offer others the support she has benefitted from in her own life. Inspired by the wonderful therapists she has been fortunate to work with, she feels honoured to support others through their healing process and as they seek peace, insight, growth and wellbeing. Outside of work, Olivia enjoys time with her dog Roo, cross-country skiing, travelling, gardening, baking, reading, knitting, photography and watching baseball. For those clients who have an interest or curiosity in meditation and/or ideas from Buddhist psychology, you will find a very willing partner in Olivia - these ideas and practices have been central to her own journey.

Approach to Counselling: Olivia’s priority is to create a safe, comfortable environment without judgment, to allow for a uniquely trusting relationship. In this place of trust and safety, she hopes her clients will feel the freedom to explore their experience from new perspectives, to find strategies to face life’s challenges, and to feel increasingly empowered in their own lives. I am a narrative trained therapist who believes in collaboration, curiosity, and respect. When dilemmas, problems, and obstacles grow big enough in our lives, they can come to dominate our lives, pulling us towards dark ideas and stories in which we can feel hopeless, lost, fearful, and disconnected. It is my aim as a therapist to work with clients to identify the challenges in their lives and explore how to move into more spaces of joy and preferred ways of living.

Part of my practice looks at the contexts in which our problems are created, which includes but is not limited to conversations around age, sexuality, gender, class, race, ethnicity, ability, and spirituality. I believe that our identities, lives, and dilemmas as well, are created within a broader relational, social, and cultural context.

I am a licensed Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia, Canada. I believe in working relationally with clients, and hope to create an environment which is safe, open-minded, and non-judgmental. I have a particular focus on grief and working with parents, couples, adolescents, and families.

About Eric

Eric is a registered clinical counsellor with a background in music therapy. He has worked with individuals, couples, and families facing a variety of life’s challenges including grief, mental health concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. He has experience working with youth as well as older adults and all ages in between. As a gay man, Eric is passionate about providing affirming therapy that is supportive and justice-oriented for all of his clients. Before obtaining his masters of counselling, Eric obtained a bachelors of music therapy and worked in mental health, substance use, and community settings. He believes that creativity is an important, unavoidable part of being alive. His music therapy background has taught him that therapy—like life—can be both serious and playful, ligtht and heavy at the same time.

Approach to Counselling

Eric’s counselling work is guided by a humanistic and existential philosophy, meaning that he views many of the problems present in our lives as inherent parts of being human and that there is nothing wrong with being human. In his counselling work, he aims to help individuals feel more human, more connected to and fulfilled by the lives they lead, and to live life with a greater sense of acceptance and flexibility. He believes deeply in the power of acceptance—not as an alternative to change but as a powerful process which can allow meaningful change to occur. Eric’s approach to therapy seeks to not view any thought or feeling as inherently bad or problematic and works to help people change their relationships with their thoughts and feelings instead of trying to get rid of them.

While Eric believes in the great potential benefits of longer-term therapy, he is passionate about making therapy beneficial from the very first session. Supporting this, Eric has training in brief models of therapy including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT) and even experience working in a single-session drop-in therapy setting.

Finally, Eric believes that therapy work is impossible to sum up in a few paragraphs. He aims for his work to be fluid, adaptive, and uniquely co-created between each of his clients and himself.

Osha is currently accepting new clients. If you are interested in working with them they ask you to please book a free consultation first either through our booking website or by contacting them at osha@lynnvalleycounselling.com.

Osha (she/her, they/them) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. They offer individual and couples counselling, as well as family consultation services to folks 16 years of age and above. Osha specializes in trauma, sexuality, LGBTQ2S+ concerns and a variety of relationship topics or issues (sexual, romantic, platonic, and/or familial relationship(s), ethical non-monogamy and polyamory, as well as attachment healing and challenges). They also work with an array of mental health and wellness concerns including anxiety, mood disorders, feelings of depression, emotional regulation, general life stress and personal growth.

ABOUT OSHA

After growing up in the Fraser Valley and spending time living up on the coast, Osha settled in Vancouver just over 10 years ago. Throughout those 10+ years, they have largely spent their time working in addictions, community services and in the mental and sexual health fields. Osha’s professional and personal experiences with mental and physical health challenges, trauma and oppression, bereavement, LGBTQ2S+ concerns and identity, and neurodiversity motivated them to earn their Masters of Counselling Psychology and become a therapist. Osha has a deep appreciation for meditation, yoga, and mindfulness practices and integrates these practices into the therapeutic work that they do. Osha loves and values the work that they are privileged to engage in and has immense gratitude for each person that allows them to join them to embark on their journey and exploration.

APPROACH TO COUNSELLING

As a therapist, Osha aims to take a trauma-informed approach to therapy, which is strengths-based, client-centred and collaborative. Osha works to create and sustain a counselling environment that feels free of judgment and is characterized by compassion, trust, safety and respect. They view well-being holistically, believing that it is constantly being affected and shaped by the intersections and influences of the different aspects of ourselves, our beliefs, experiences and environments, and vice versa. Osha believes in the importance and impact of the mind-body connection and relationship, which may be expanded to include spirituality if that aligns with your beliefs and values. In order to attend to that important mind-body relationship, you can expect therapy with Osha to extend past standard talk-therapy in favour of an approach that integrates both talk-therapy and experiential therapies. Likewise, their approach to counselling tends to be fluid, whereby they strive to adapt therapy to the diverse experiences, current circumstances and unique qualities of each person.

Osha largely practices experiential therapies such as Somatic Experiencing therapies (SE), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and mindfulness-based therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Depending on your hopes, goals, and needs, Osha may borrow from other therapies including, but not limited to, Attachment Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Gottman Method Couples Counselling.

About Donna

Donna Hutchinson is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, EMDR Practitioner, Trauma-Informed Yoga Instructor, Registered Personal Trainer/Fitness Instructor, and she hold’s Master of Education in Counselling Psychology.

Thirty years ago, Donna started a career in the fitness industry as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. She worked in many sectors of the industry and eventually became a Master Trainer of fitness leaders, an author, and a professional speaker. As the years went by, Donna’s clients and even some of her students would speak to her about their mental health struggles, including struggles with body image, eating disorders, low self-esteem, inner critics, trauma, and much more. Donna really wanted to be able to help these individuals, but recognized their issues were outside of her scope of practice, education, and knowledge. Not satisfied by this limitation and wanting a new challenge for herself, Donna decided, at age 46, to go back to school and add a master’s degree in counselling psychology to her tool kit. While she loves fitness and will always remain involved in the industry, Donna is happy to make this career shift and truly be able to bring together both mind and body in her work together with her clients.

Approach to Counselling

Donna brings her vast knowledge, experience, and expertise from 30+ years of living and breathing health and fitness coupled with a solid foundation of psychology. She truly integrates the body-mind experience into her sessions with her clients. Donna is a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor and incorporates mindfulness practices into her work with her clients. She utilizes the tools I offer my clients because I know how beneficial they are. I am not all about academia. Donna also has a sense of humour and likes to use it when appropriate in therapy. Some issues are difficult to discuss, and humour can be a really helpful form of healing.

Donna practices from a mindfulness based perspective and brings theoretical components of cognitive behavioural therapy, internal family systems, emotion focused therapy, and narrative therapy into her work with her clients. Donna is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy for treating PTSD and other traumas. Common concerns that Donna works with are life transitions, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, self-worth, self-esteem, trauma, body image, eating disorders, sexual, gender discovery and identity, inner critics, grief & loss, self-harm, suicide ideation, childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, and personal growth.

Couples Counselling

With her work with couples, Donna uses Imago relationship therapy (Imago means image) which addresses two journeys that connect experiences of relationship in childhood with experiences in adult love relationships. As your Imago therapist, Donna will work to support you and your relationship by exploring the space between you and what is preventing you from connecting to one another. To seek to understand what’s underneath all the hurt, the reactions and the behaviours that seem to make it difficult or even sometimes impossible to feel seen, heard and understood by the other. The Imago dialogue, facilitated by your Imago Therapist, is specifically designed to help you each explore your unique worlds and invite your loving partner to join you in a way that feels safe, supportive and connected. The Imago Dialogue is easy to learn and something you will be able to do on your own to deepen the connection between you. Donna is currently completing the Imago Relationship Therapy Certification and for a limited time will be offering  90-minute sessions at a 75-minute rate.

About Erin Erin is an intern counsellor who has completed her practicum and is in the final stages of her Master of Counselling degree at Adler University. Originally from the Yukon, where she developed a deep love for the outdoors, Erin moved to British Columbia to pursue her graduate studies and deepen her work in the helping professions. Her background as a certified Sexual Health Educator continues to shape her warm, collaborative, and compassionate approach to counselling.

Erin works with children, teens, youth, and adults, offering both in-person and virtual counselling for individuals and couples. Her areas of focus include anxiety and stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, and grief. She also brings additional knowledge and experience in supporting clients with topics related to sexual health and wellness, including sexuality, sexual trauma, self-esteem, body image, and intimacy. When working with children and youth, Erin creates space for emotional expression and growth, while collaborating with families to build understanding and connection.

Approach to Counselling Erin’s counselling approach is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), bringing warmth, empathy, and emotional depth to her work with both individuals and couples. While EFT is the foundation of her practice, she also draws on a range of evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS)—to support each person’s unique process. Erin understands that therapy is a personal and evolving journey, and she adapts her work to meet people where they are.

Erin understands that being human involves navigating struggle and uncertainty. She offers a steady, compassionate presence for those looking to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that influence their lives. Attachment science also informs her approach, which offers insight into how early relationships shape our emotional lives and influence how we connect with ourselves and others. Through this lens, Erin helps clients explore the patterns and relational experiences that may contribute to distress, and supports them in building more secure, connected, and fulfilling relationships—internally and externally.

Erin‘s practice is focused on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel understood, respected, and free to explore their experiences at their own pace. Sessions are conversational and collaborative, guided by curiosity and care. Whether navigating a life transition, relationship difficulties, or seeking to understand themselves better, Erin offers a steady, thoughtful space to reflect, make sense of their experiences, and work toward meaningful change.

She has lived and worked in many Canadian cities and abroad before moving to Montreal in 2005 where she completed an entirely unrelated undergraduate degree in Creative Writing. She resettled back in Vancouver where she is often walking with her dog, traveling to the Gulf Islands, writing short stories, thrifting or spending time with friends and family.

Approach to Counselling

Mackenzie is compassionate, open-minded and brings a deeply non-judgmental approach to her practice. She believes in creating a safe, welcoming environment where clients feel seen and valued for who they are. Her natural curiosity allows her to explore each client’s unique story and innate resilience using humour, creativity and connection. She is committed to social justice, and anti-oppressive practices.

Mackenzie has completed Somatic Experiencing Intermediate 1 training and is happy to integrate somatic therapy in her work with clients. The body holds wisdom that can often guide emotional processing by attuning to the nervous system’s response to both the hardships and the places of healing in our lives.

Mackenzie is also training in Janina Fisher’s Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST) which incorporates parts work, mindfulness and somatic techniques. TIST can help clients broaden their understanding of themselves and cultivate a sense of self-compassion.

Mackenzie also draws from various other therapeutic modalities including Attachment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
